Email Campaigns
Email campaigns can be used in a variety of ways to enhance the relationship you have with prospects and customers. It is a quick and easy way to communicate with them about promotions, sales, new products/services, relevant information, etc.
Email campaigns are most successful when the following three components are included: permission-based list, relevant and useful information is provided, and consistency.
1) A permission-based list. Spamming (sending unsolicited email) a purchased list is not only ineffective, in most cases it could also be a violation of the CAN-SPAM laws.
Building your own list can be done in a variety of ways and is the most effective way of making sure you are sending emails that prospects have given you their permission to send and for following the law. Gathering email addresses through replies to space ads, outbound telemarketing, or the web (via pay-per-click or SEO) are all ways to cost-effectively build your own database of prospects.

2) Relevant, Useful Information. Email that is always commercial in nature, is irrelevant, or of little value does nothing to build the relationship with those in your database. Whether you are sending tips or tricks on how to do something better or cheaper, providing useful articles on relevant topics, directing them to additional resources, or any other communication that adds value you are taking the right steps to establishing a strong rapport with your list.
3) Consistency. If you are sending out sporadic emails in varying intervals then you are not optimizing the potential of your list. We generally recommend that you send anywhere from 25 to 52 email messages per year to your database. This may seem like a lot but if you are following the first two rules then this suggested frequency will do more to enhance your relationship than sending fewer messages.
